Controller - Meticulous - Creative - Strategic

I embarked on my finance journey at the tender age of 10, sitting at an electric typewriter, filled with anxiety at the thought of making a mistake.

With just two fingers, I meticulously typed up my father's carbon copied invoices for his business in the early 90s. What a time! Little did I know that this humble beginning would set the stage for an exciting career in finance within the advertising industry. Over the past 15 years, it’s safe to say that I’ve changed… a little. I've honed my skills and expertise in finance, starting as a BCR Project Accountant. In this role, I became the go-to liaison between the client services and finance departments, bridging the perpetual gap between the two.

Let's just say, I became a master at deciphering their miscommunications and ensuring smooth collaboration. Humbly speaking, of course. With a passion for numbers and a knack for problem-solving, I transitioned fully into the finance department. Specializing in Accounts Receivable and Billing, I not only supported other BCR coordinators but also played a pivotal role in the operations of the finance and client services teams. I took pride in my meticulous quality control of dockets and my exceptional management of timesheets. Through industry connections and word-of-mouth recommendations, I found myself working as a full-cycle Bookkeeper at a startup firm. This venture was tailored to serve creative and design firms, and I successfully managed the financial well-being of seven clients, all from the advertising and architecture sectors. In the advertising industry, it's not just about the quality of work;it's also about the relationships we cultivate along the way.

It was through these connections that I ascended to the role of Controller, all while indulging in my side hustle as a Fractional Controller and Bookkeeper. I've come to be known as "Helluva Bookkeeper," reminding everyone not to let their books burn them. Pun intended, maybe? Reflecting on my career, it has been a rollercoaster ride, filled with challenges, triumphs, and plenty of Xbox games. I've always believed that finance doesn't have to be dry and dull;a little lightheartedness can go a long way. So, remember, "Don't get cooked by your books!"

The Best Fit

Small businesses, any industry as I'm willing to learn, but I'm used to creative firms, non profit orgs, restaurants/bars
